The Leper

I see the seed
I see the root
the ground is dry
the ground is starved
but I see you

your barrenness
Is your shame
birthed from a life of pain
associates with lepers
and the lame

he has stripes too
wounds that cut the soul
associates with
prostitutes and fools

there's beauty in the broken
and I see His beauty in you

The Vulnerability of Art

I truly think artists must be bold people. Albeit, a certain type of bold.

To write, to sing, to perform freely you must be free from the concern of others.
Art is revelatory. It shows who you are. This is a vulnerable thing

Art is completely and totally unnecessary in life. Yet it exists.
I think art is one of the biggest evidences of God's existence. It wasn't necessary. We don't need it, but it does something to people. It speaks to them.

Beginning

There’s
A slow
And steady
Warming
Of hearts

There’s
A slow
And steady
Forming
Dreams

A quietly
Growing
Comfort
Of companions

A subtle joy
Of newness

On the pathway
To beginning.

This must
Be
How
Love
Grows.
